Who this plan suits
- Travellers who want a large overseas medical limit and will pay for the top plan to get it
- Skiers, divers and other sports travellers, who get more of what they do on Platinum: it is the only one of the three with a sports section, and it allows free diving to 10 metres, scuba to 30 metres, and skiing outside the marked trails except where the resort calls the area unsafe or the access is by helicopter. Basic and Silver refuse free diving altogether, scuba beyond 20 metres or without a dive master, and any skiing off the marked trails.
- Holidaymakers who want baggage delay and travel delay cover on the same policy
- Travellers under 70 comparing the three tiers, where the limits differ most
Worth knowing before you buy
- The medical limit falls sharply with age. A traveller aged 70 or over is covered to S$50,000 on Basic, S$75,000 on Silver and S$100,000 on Platinum, against S$200,000 / S$500,000 / S$1,000,000 below that age. source: allianz-assistance.com.sg · verified 2026-10-03
- Basic carries no travel delay cover and no trip curtailment. Both appear first on Silver, and the delay ceiling is higher again on Platinum. source: allianz-assistance.com.sg · verified 2026-10-03
- Travel accident cover on Silver and Platinum does not pay for the death or permanent disablement of anyone under 16. source: allianz-assistance.com.sg · verified 2026-10-03
- Sports cover is Platinum only — Basic and Silver carry no sports section, so equipment, hire and missed-activity costs are not covered on those plans. source: allianz-assistance.com.sg · verified 2026-10-03
- Personal money is not covered on Basic or Silver, and identification documents are not covered on Basic. source: allianz-assistance.com.sg · verified 2026-10-03
- Cover is limited to trips of no more than 180 days, and the policy is only sold to travellers ordinarily resident in Singapore.
- This policy does not cover pre-existing medical conditions, the insured's travelling companions' or family members' included.
The Allianz Travel single-trip policy is sold through Allianz Assistance Singapore and underwritten by Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore Ltd, with AWP Services Singapore Pte Ltd arranging it under the Allianz Travel brand. It is a separate product from the Allianz Travel Protect policy sold on allianz.sg, with its own wordings and its own figures.
Three plans, three documents
Alone among the nine insurers we cover, each plan here comes with its own policy wording rather than one document carrying three columns — the other eight ship one, or at most two. The Coverage Summary inside each wording prints a single “Maximum Benefit in SGD” column, so a figure belongs to the plan whose document it appears in. That is why the plan matters more than usual when reading a figure: Basic, Silver and Platinum are three separate contracts, and they differ in which benefits they carry at all, not only in how much they pay.
The medical limit shows the plainest ladder: an adult under 70 is covered to S$200,000 on Basic, S$500,000 on Silver and S$1,000,000 on Platinum for emergency treatment abroad, including emergency dental treatment to S$250 on all three plans and Traditional Chinese Medicine within a sub-limit that rises with the tier. The same benefit then drops to S$50,000, S$75,000 and S$100,000 at age 70 and over — so the gap between the plans narrows at the top of the age range, and a Platinum policy covers a 70-year-old to a tenth of what it pays a 69-year-old.
What the lower plans leave out
The differences are not confined to amounts. Basic has no trip curtailment section and pays nothing for a travel delay; both arrive on Silver. Silver in turn has no sports section and no trip-incident cover — those are Platinum features, along with personal money cover, which neither of the lower plans carries. Identification documents are covered on Silver and Platinum but not on Basic.
Where a benefit does appear on more than one plan, the ceiling usually moves with the tier: baggage runs S$1,000 / S$3,000 / S$5,000 across the three plans, and a cap on high value items taken together — collectibles, jewellery, watches, cameras, electronics and the like — runs S$250 / S$1,000 / S$1,500 inside it. Emergency evacuation is the exception — S$1,000,000 on all three, with a S$10,000 search-and-rescue allowance. Baggage delay is reimbursed on all three plans, at S$250 / S$500 / S$1,000, each plan giving back what the delay cost you against receipts rather than paying a cash sum.
Before you buy
Two structural points are worth knowing. Cover is limited to trips of no more than 180 days, and the policy is sold only to travellers ordinarily resident in Singapore. And the policy excludes pre-existing medical conditions outright — including those of your travelling companion or family members — which matters more here than on a policy that offers a rider to buy that cover back, because this one does not.
